The Laya Center

The Laya Center is a holistic wellness destination in Downtown Kansas City, founded by Toyia Mays. She founded this Herban Oasis after a long bout to restore her husband’s health in the latter years of his NFL career. Though they had always chosen a healthy lifestyle, they wanted to dig deeper into world cultures and healing practices.

When opioid addiction was at an all-time high and increasing, Joe Mays did the unimaginable and refused to allow pain & inflammatory meds to rule his life. This was when he sought different treatments, herbs, and nutrition, leading Toyia to study herbalism. This New-Age Spa specializes in chronic illness management & injury recovery. They have integrated ancient African healing methods with Ayurvedic techniques to achieve a deep healing system that stands the test of time.

Their wellness techniques realign the mind, body, soul, and spirit to elevate and propel you to your highest potential. A unique blend of spirituality, integrative technology, and indigenous healing practices align to curate a healing ritual that realigns the body’s ability to heal independently.

They feel each decision should hold an action promoting a lifestyle change and continued wellness.

The Laya Center has a curated selection of nourishment that naturally restores the natural. All of their herban pantry items are infused with herbs to make the necessary lifestyle changes as seamless as possible, encouraging our clients to connect to nature. In addition, the herban tea bar features specialty drinks, vegan bites, recovery snacks, and coffee alternatives curated to help you hold your ground!

The mercantile features their small batch, in-house herbal supplements. herban® products blend the innate practices of earth’s first people with the spirit of energy medicine and the Yoruba principle of Ayurveda. This concept gives alternative medicine a voice rooted in spiritual wholeness to inspire health and a more profound sense of wellness.

In addition, they also partnered with Prairiewise Herb School; they offer a 3-year Herbalism program, monthly workshops, and focused classes for everyone from Stay-at-Home Mothers to Practitioners.

Ultimately, The Laya Center is based on the vision that their team will deliver exceptional educational experiences for individuals and therapists who seek alternative healing techniques, creating a culture to learn, heal, reconnect, and grow.
