Thalia Cherry

I was so lucky to hear Thalia Cherry speak during those early days of COVID in 2020 at one of our Corona Crew Virtual get-togethers. I loved hearing her story and the path she took to start her company. One of the things that stood out to me was her passion for the Kansas City community and her drive to help others, specifically the next generation of leaders. She is such a genuine. Giving and thoughtful person. Fun Fact: She was a superstar collegiate athlete at Bethany College, becoming an all-American in volleyball and softball.

If you are unfamiliar with Thalia, she is the Founder and CEO of Cherry Co. Cherry Co, a sporty fashion clothing and accessories company highlighting women's strengths.

They have six retail locations: Made In KC Marketplace, Made in KC Marketplace, Halls Kansas City, Rally House Plaza, Rally House Oak Park Mall, and Rally House Boardwalk, plus their online store.

I love their mission and the amount they give back to the community; they have donated over $500,000 since their inception in 2012. Through the years, they have also incurred 21 collegiate licenses and an exclusive partnership with the KC Mavericks in May 2021.

As an extension of Cherry Co, she created Entrepreneurship KC, a virtual entrepreneurship and internship program launched in the summer of 2020 with 150 local high school students. Its main goal is to make the next generation of entrepreneurs by providing scaffolded immersive entrepreneurial experiences to local students.

Because of this program, she was named in EBONY magazine’s 2020 EBONY POWER 100 list, along with Patrick Mahomes. They both made history as the first two Kansas City personalities to make the list. An incredible documentary was also made in late 2021 on Thalia’s journey starting Entrepreneurship KC. In addition, the 2021 class was up to 255 students from 30 schools that spoke 21 languages—tremendous growth from the inaugural event in 2020.

On top of running Cherry Co and Entrepreneurship KC, she also sits on a few boards in KC, including the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and Visit KC.

I cannot wait to see what 2022 has in store for Thalia, Cherry Co., and the Entrepreneurship KC. When you have the kind of passion Thalia has for her community, the sky is the limit!
