Transition Zone
Led by Founder and CEO Jacqueline Buycks, Transition Zone (TZone) is a safe space where youth ages 12 to 18 (primarily in the urban core of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area) are equipped with workforce/life skills and entrepreneurship training.
While working in various schools in the Kansas City Community, Jackie noticed a prevailing overlooked need—sufficient workforce/life skills and entrepreneurship training and the lack of opportunities for gainful employment for youth in the urban core. Most children lack the skills to even approach a potential employer for a job application, let alone a job interview or even the knowledge to sustain, persevere, and endure workforce challenges.
Transition Zone was founded on the mission of providing a safe environment where people are loved and accepted, equipping youth and families with life skills to thrive, and empowering individuals to walk in their purpose.
Transition Zone has three programs, Youth Zone, Parenting Zone, and Safe Zone. Those programs were built around their primary objective, which is to equip youth with Workforce/Life Skills development and entrepreneurship training, along with activities enhancing the learning experience, including career guest speakers/mentors, empowering them with the necessary tools to thrive in the workforce and life.
The youth will be supported and mentored by the TZone team throughout the year and every year after that through high school, trade school, and college graduation.
The youth will experience regular guest career speakers/mentors who look like them from various skill paths, allowing a more personal connection to their career choices.
Tzone will continue to provide a safe, caring, and equitable space for youth and families to be equipped with life skills, workforce skills, and entrepreneurship development. Empowering them to thrive in their life’s purpose.
