Start at Zero’s
Start at Zero’s goal and mission is to partner with parents and caregivers to promote healthy early childhood development. With 90% of all human brain development happening before age 5, healthy early childhood development is critical to helping a child succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
Start with Zero offers multiple programs.
1. Development Screenings: Evaluates language, gross motor, fine motor, problem-solving, personal social, and social/emotional skills
2. Parents as Teachers Family Visiting: The parent Educator meets with families to discuss child development, parent-child interaction, and family well-being, following the Parents as Teachers curriculum.
3. Educare: Provides on-site or virtual visits to enhance childcare programs that serve children receiving state assistance.
4. Parent Café: Parent Café is a series of conversations to keep families healthy and strong. Parents and caregivers lead Cafés to promote positive relationships between the adults caring for young children.
5. Virtual Parent Workshops: Parent Workshops are an opportunity for parents to come together to learn about and discuss topics of interest to them.
6. Family and Community Leadership Program: 12-week short-format, skills-based program.
The ultimate goal for Start with Zero is a thriving educational ecosystem that prepares all children for a lifetime of success.
