Joel Goldberg

Many people know Joel Goldberg from his role covering the Kansas City Royals with Bally Sports Midwest | Bally Sports Kansas City | Bally Sports Indiana. Others, like myself, might remember him from his days covering the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Some might not know that Joel is also an author, keynote speaker, and host of one of the best podcasts, but we will get to that in a minute.

Joel got started in sports broadcasting by knocking on the doors of TV stations, cold calling broadcast executives, and sending out resume tapes.

He began his career in Wisconsin working in Rhinelander and Madison, covering everything from high school sports to the Green Bay Packers and even the World Championship Snowmobile Derby.

After leaving Wisconsin and heading for St. Louis, Joel worked for a local station and Fox Sports Midwest, covering both the Cardinals and Blues.

In 2008, he left St. Louis after a remarkable ten-year run to come to Kansas City to cover the Kansas City Royals. He hosts the “Royals Live” show, provides reports during the game, and interviews winning players while dodging Gatorade buckets after wins.

During his time in KC, he has also worked with the University of Missouri-Kansas City basketball and the Kansas City Mavericks.

Through his years of storytelling and watching championship organizations succeed (and fail), he realized that his access to methods executives use to build culture and championship teams translated to the corporate world.

In 2017 Joel started Joel Goldberg Media. At that time, he started his Podcast “Rounding the Bases with Joel Goldberg” and began speaking on Culture, Team Building, and Leadership.

Since starting in 2017, he has given countless speeches to corporations, associations, small businesses, educational institutions, non-profits, and sports teams and hosted over 500 guests on his podcast.

In 2020 he launched his first book, “Small Ball Big Results,” which is about the little things that add up to big wins in baseball, business, and life. Leaders and team players will draw vital lessons from stories that take you from the baseball field to the board room, revealing what it takes to build an unbeatable culture. Joel shares tales of perseverance, patience, grit, and gratitude from soldiers, executives, entrepreneurs, baseball players, and many more incredible people.

Recently, Joel started a newsletter, “Out of the Park,” that includes details of upcoming events, highlights from his podcast, helpful resources, and behind-the-scenes stories.

I know Joel will continue to be a force in the sports broadcasting world, but I might be even more excited to watch his continued success with his speaking, blogging, podcast, and more.

Visit Joel’s website to learn more about his podcast and book or inquire about a speaking engagement.
