Harry S. Campbell

Harry S. Campbell held the Vanderbilt school record in the 10,000 meters for 35 years.

Now that I have your attention with that fantastic fun fact about Harry, I would like to tell you about one of the most genuine, charitable, and all-around amazing people I have had the pleasure of getting to know in KC. Regardless of the situation, being around Harry is an absolute pleasure. He brings this joyous attitude to everything he does; it is so contagious that you can't help but be fired up about achieving your goals after speaking with him. He said something recently that just summed him up so well. He was on a panel last Wednesday discussing grit and how competitive he is. Toward the end of the answer, he said, “If we go bowling, you better bring a change of underwear because we are going to keep playing until I beat you.” It is that type of attitude and persistence that has led to the success he has had in his life. He is an extraordinary person who lives their best life each day and is as authentic as they come.

If you are not familiar with Harry, he is technically W-2 retired. Before retirement, he was an executive at Sprint, Embarq, Durrie Vision, and others and the co-owner of a small business that won the Mr. K award in 1998 from the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

He is currently a speaker, author, investor, and mentor. He has authored three books, including the Get Real Series. “Get-Real Leadership” in 2012, “Get-Real Culture” in 2016, and his most recent book is “Get-Real Mindset” in 2020. He has sold over 10,000 copies of his books to date. Harry goes all over the country giving keynote speeches on his book topics and is a dynamic speaker. So much energy, excitement, inspiration, and passion come out when he is up on stage. I have heard him three times and always walk out inspired to crush my day and ensure I am focused on providing value to others. The proceeds of all his book sales and speaking engagements go directly to Head for the Cure Foundation. To date, he has raised over 500,000 dollars which is so amazing.

I am on the edge of my seat to watch Harry continue to impact the lives of everyone he meets. I know his speeches and books will continue to inspire people, all while driving donations to a fantastic organization.
