Davin Gordon

As shown in his work, Davin Gordon has a love and passion for our community here in KC.

After graduating from Rockhurst University, he joined Guadalupe Centers Inc, which he felt was like a homecoming since he was a part of their programs growing up. He did fantastic work there and during his fellowship with National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB)

While with NALCAB, he helped set up an Individual Development Account program with a local high school. It was designed as a 1:8 match savings program for post-secondary education. This program allowed 15 students in the program to pay for college expenses.

After a tremendous three-year run at Guadalupe Centers, he shifted his focus to helping small businesses in the area at AltCap. AltCap is a community development financial institution (CDFI) that invests in underestimated communities throughout the Kansas City metro.

One of his main focuses when he got to AltCap, was bringing capital, support, and ecosystem progression to the entrepreneurial space. He was also determined to add more diversity to the KC startup community.

The accomplishments and businesses he helped in his almost six years at AltCap could be their post. Still, one of my favorites is his and the team’s swift action to help local businesses when the pandemic hit in 2020 with their “The KC Region Small Business Relief + Recovery Loan Fund.” This helped a lot of local businesses stay afloat during the pandemic.

Davin now works with the Hall Family Foundation. They are a private philanthropic organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of human life in Greater Kansas City. Initiatives that enrich the entire community, help all people, and promote excellence are considered of prime importance.

Most recently, he was part of an incredible steering committee through LaunchKC that selected seven local entrepreneurs for the inaugural Social Venture Studio. The goal is to provide professional support, grant awards, mentoring, and network connections to these individuals.

On top of all his great work, Davin was named to the Kansas City Business Journal NextGen Leaders in 2019, a graduate of The Centurions Leadership Program in 2021, and sits on several boards in KC, including Co-Chair of Startland and Kanbe's Markets.

I am so impressed with Davin’s commitment to the community and the enthusiasm he brings each day. I am excited to see what the future holds for him and all he will accomplish.
