Craig Moore II

Craig Moore II learned to read music in only three months, which led him to get a scholarship to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, playing in the Golden Lion Marching Band.

After returning to KC in 2008, he worked for a few organizations before landing with Made Men Inc in KCK in 2014. Through the work, he was doing at Made Men Inc and his consulting agency, this is where the idea for Black Excellence KC (BXKC) was created.

Craig Co-Founded BXKC in 2019 and currently serves as the Founding Executive Director. It initially launched as a gala event to celebrate area leaders and bridge silos. Today, BXKC has evolved into a place where all African Americans can come together, exchange ideas, and create a generational impact so that today’s struggles do not become the struggles for tomorrow.

BXKC’s mission is to provide a safe space for its members to engage with resources and opportunities that break down systemic barriers and create generational wealth. In addition, they want their members to learn how to add value to their careers above and beyond their job description.

Although COVID threw a curveball into BXKC’s plans, Craig and the team quickly pivoted to virtual panels and added additional programming for their members.

Today BXKC has over 500 members and provides unique learning and social experiences, personality mapping, and job placement matchmaking tailored to each member within a community that understands them.

BXKC hosts many events throughout the year for members. For example, each quarter, they have their “Millionaire Mindset Brunch” series featuring professionals willing to share their knowledge and the highly accomplished connections that helped them obtain wealth. The next brunch will be on 10/29/2022.

Starting in September, they will host a monthly mixer where members can learn about job and volunteer opportunities, upcoming events, new resources, and network. BXKC has an incredible executive team, advisory team, and board of directors.

In late 2021, Craig also became Director of Kansas City for Venture For America (VFA). He is responsible for recruiting and connecting talent while engaging with startups to help bring KC to the national level. In addition, Craig will help the fellows in the VFA program get a true sense of KC and help them excel through the two-year program.

Craig was recently named a 2022 NextGen Leader by the Kansas City Business Journal. He is active in the community and will be a panelist this Wednesday, 8/3, at the Keystone Innovation District, discussing the VFA program.

Craig’s vision, passion, and advocacy for the community will create a ripple effect on KC for years to come. I look forward to continuing to watch the growth of BXKC and supporting him along the way.
