Claudia Meyer

Claudia Meyer moved to the United States from Brazil when she was fifteen.

Even though she had to learn a new language and culture, her teachers saw immense potential in her, and she quickly moved to the advanced classes.

After high school, Claudia completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Spanish Language Teacher Education.

She also has Master's degrees from Webster University, University of Central Missouri, and a Doctorate from William Woods University.

Claudia spent seventeen years in the Blue Springs school district as a teacher and school counselor before becoming the principal at the Guadalupe Center Charter Schools.

In June of 2022, Claudia Meyer became the first female Latina president of Cristo Rey Kansas City.

Cristo Rey Kansas City provides a Catholic college and career prep education enhanced by an innovative corporate work study program to culturally diverse, ambitious students with economic needs.

Cristo Rey’s signature and differentiating component is its Corporate Work Study Program. Through this innovative program, students work one day per week to fund approximately half the cost of their education, gain job experience, and realize the relevance of their learning while providing real value to local businesses.

In turn, organizations can contribute by being good corporate citizens while developing a diverse talent pipeline. The Corporate Work Study Program is a defining characteristic that sets Cristo Rey apart from other college and career preparatory high schools.

Claudia supports many foundations, such as the H8 Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for research and promoting awareness of better treatment options to save lives.

She is also a mentor for KC Biz Fest, which offers high school students in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area an opportunity to learn various business techniques and life skills. She is also a member of The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce & Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City, & Rotary Club Of Kansas City.

Claudia is a powerhouse in the field of education, and I cannot wait to see what she can do at Cristo Rey in her second year and beyond. With her background, leadership style, and commitment to her students, she will continue to be an asset at Cristo Rey and in the community.
