Brown Sugar Collective
Founded by Xavier Hankins and Ashley Rudd, Brown Sugar Collective is a networking organization for women of color who are entrepreneurs, creatives, influencers, and those thinking about getting started.
Their pillars are network, collaborate, empower, and flourish, and they do that through Labs, professional development workshops, community service, and member link-ups.
Its membership is designed to create a more exclusive and impactful experience. Members can share their knowledge with the collective, all while learning new skills for themselves. In addition, they work together to promote a stronger sense of community, help you elevate your business, and grow professionally.
Their programming is broken into Brown Sugar Labs, Brown Sugar Workshops, and Socials.
The labs are a one-of-a-kind monthly coworking session for like-minded women in Kansas City to come together and spend 3-hours of uninterrupted time working towards business & personal goals and share out with progress at the end for feedback & encouragement!
Workshops are designed to advance participant knowledge based on their varying stages of business. The goal is for every attendee to be able to apply the information received immediately while it's still fresh in their minds.
Lastly, they have Fireside Chats, which are one-on-one insight convos with ladies from select fields centered around different themes. Members can ask questions, share experiences, and discuss what is needed in business to help them move forward. Fireside Chats are where they take the time to celebrate wins, seek advice from the group, and swap names of potential referrals.
Ultimately, their goal with Brown Sugar Collective is to change the narrative about minority-owned businesses. Also, they aim to create a space where women can come and be their authentic selves as they work on building their personal brands.
