Band of Angels

Founded in 2010 as a not-for-profit partnership between WDAF-TV FOX4 and Meyer Music, Band of Angels is an organization that collects musical instruments and provides them to children in need for free so that they can join band and orchestra programs.

The donated instruments are refurbished and restored before being given to a child. In addition, unrepairable instruments are repurposed to benefit our programs, such as Art That Blows.

Band of Angels also offers full summer music camp scholarships to the students it serves so that they may further their music education beyond the school year and classroom. In addition, campers receive one-on-one attention from instructors not available in band or orchestra classes during the school year.

They have donated over 3000 instruments to students and sent over 400 kids to summer music camp.

To help support their efforts, Band of Angels hosts two fundraising events during the year, The Heart Strings Gala charity concert and Art That Blows, a charity art auction.

The Heart Strings Gala is at The Abbott on February 4th, 2023. The event will have a special music guest, Grammy-nominated producer, and songwriter Imani Pressley.

Be on the lookout for the announcement of the 2023 class of Rockstars that will help raise money for the Band of Angels and their Art That Blows event in July 2023.

I was lucky enough to participate as a rockstar in 2022, and I know how much of an impact this new class will have on students throughout the metro.

Band of Angels fosters children's talent and academic participation across the Kansas City area by creating equal opportunities for music students.
