Amber Schreiber

“Changing lives one scope at a time” is the mantra for The Golden Scoop, a non-profit ice cream shop that employs people with developmental disabilities. Amber Schreiber co-founded it in January 2020 and currently serves as the President and CEO.

Before co-founding The Golden Scoop in 2020, Amber had a successful career in the corporate world. She worked in IT as a project manager for several companies, including almost eight years with Lockton Companies and then HUB International, before shifting to her alma mater Saint Thomas Aquinas High School - Overland Park, KS, as their advancement office for alum relations, where she spent five years.

In the fall of 2018, Amber’s sister and co-founder Lindsay Krumbholz presented the idea for The Golden Scoop after hearing of a similar concept on the east coast. A year later, Lindsay approached Amber again, and as they say, the rest is history. The Golden Scoop launched its ice cream concept at 95th and Nall in early 2021.

The Golden Scoops’ mission is to provide meaningful employment for people with developmental disabilities; to foster an environment where our employees are mentored, inspired, and equipped to succeed in their jobs and their lives; to offer unique made-from-scratch products; and to provide an inclusive, joyful customer experience that keeps people coming back for another scoop.

Unlike any other ice cream shop in town, our Super Scoopers are involved in every aspect of what they do: from marketing and merchandising to creating ice cream flavors and serving their community. The Golden Scoop proudly provides our employees with innovative, meaningful, and paid work.

In addition to ice cream, The Golden Scoop sells a variety of drip coffees and lattes, cookies, brownies, muffins, and cinnamon rolls.

Ambers’s dedication, generosity, and work ethic will forever change many lives in KC. I am so excited to watch her journey and continue to see The Golden Scoop’s impact on all its employees.
