Alaia Martin
Alaia Martin, MBA, is an exceptional educator, person, and rising executive in Kansas City.
A Springfield, Missouri native, Alaia finished both her undergrad and Masters's degrees at Missouri State University. After graduation, she stayed in Springfield, working for the Springfield Missouri Public Schools as an accounting manager. Alaia moved up to Kansas City in 2015 to work for Citi.
Alaia gained a wealth of knowledge of corporate banking, lending, and analytics during her eight-year career as the VP of Forecasting at Citigroup.
During her time there, she successfully led credit risk teams in developing and launching innovative processes for evaluation and forecasting.
Alaia is passionate about finance and inclusion and is dedicated to working together to create an impact for underrepresented and underestimated entrepreneurs.
That passion led her on her entrepreneurial journey in mid-2019 when she launched tinyGuru, which was created to teach kids as young as five about personal finances, money mindset, and entrepreneurship.
tinyGuru was founded on the belief that the earlier a child learns about money, the more significant their advantage. Their course covers financial literacy topics, from money basics to saving to investments, and builds the mindset needed to succeed.
Alaia is also the COO at Foresight, a SAAS platform that de-risks and automates the lending process for financial institutions.
Founded in 2022 by Jannae Gammage and Alaia, Foresight is breaking new ground with cloud technologies that serve as workforce multipliers to drive productivity while increasing capital access for low to moderate-income communities without undue risk to the financial institution.
Foresight was one of the most recent LaunchKC Grant winners, receiving $50,000.
On top of the work she does at tinyGuru and Foresight, Alaia also works with InnovateHER KC as their finance manager, is the Treasurer-Board of Directors for Street Medicine KC, and has worked with both Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City and Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City in the past.
Knowing Alaia’s passion, work ethic, and drive, I know she and the Foresight team will do huge things in the future. I look forward to watching their continued rise and supporting where I can.
