Megan Sturges Stanfield

In meeting with Megan Sturges Stanfield, she clearly loves going to work each day and being a positive change for the kids she gets to help. Helping others was instilled in her at a young age and something she knew she wanted to pursue since she was in elementary school.

Megan is the President and CEO of Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City (JAKC). Her leadership, dedication, hard work, and staff and the board have built an excellent program for kids all over the metro.

If you are unfamiliar with JAKC, they bring business back to the classroom by providing programs to promote financial decision-making, inspire entrepreneurship, and prepare students (K-12) for success in a 21st-century workplace. Connecting classrooms with business and community volunteers in a hands-on learning environment equates Kansas City's next generation with the tools to achieve economic mobility and live choice-filled futures.

In my opinion, her and JAKC’s most outstanding achievement was opening their new facility in KCK in 2021. The JAKC Youth Learning Lab, presented by the Mallouk Family Foundation, will house three programs. Most of the facility is dedicated to JA BizTown, presented by CommunityAmerica Credit Union, which was inspired by the late Exchange City program. One of the coolest components of JA BizTown is that all the businesses represented are local KC companies, including Creative Planning, Kansas City Royals, Charlie Hustle Clothing Co., JE Dunn Construction, Hallmark Cards, and many others. The remaining space is dedicated to the JA Career Center and JA Innovation Center.

As someone who recently visited the new headquarters of Junior Achievement of KC, I was blown away at what they had built for their students. The students will be able to learn more about nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset. Each program will help them connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.

With Megan’s leadership and drive, I know that JAKC will continue positively impacting kids all over the city.
