Ashley Mahoney

Ashley Mahoney spent six years teaching business classes to high school students in Topeka and Overland Park before she ventured into the entrepreneurial world.

While she did freelance work while teaching to build a client base, she officially launched her business, Hello Big Idea, in the fall of 2015. Leading up to the launch of her business, she spent the summer of 2015 in Montego Bay, Jamaica working at Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville.

One of the main driving forces for starting Hello Big Idea for Ashley was to help other women-owned companies get started.

If you are unfamiliar with Hello Big Idea, the goal is to help bring the big ideas of their clients to life. They do this through authentic branding, unique and user-friendly web design, and knock-your-socks-off social media marketing. In addition, they collaborate through projects (one-time scopes of work) and partnerships where you can outsource your creative department to them.

They have worked with local and national clients, including The Mixx, Caffeteria, blooom, Geo Organic Juices, and many more. If you want to learn more about their clients, they are currently doing a social media campaign on LinkedIn highlighting 22 of the brands they have worked with.

Along with running Hello Big Idea, Ashely is also the Co-Founder of SHERT. SHERT is an apparel brand that goes all-in to uplifting and supporting women, women-owned businesses, and ideas by women.

Unsurprisingly, Ashely has been recognized for her outstanding work, being named a NextGen Leader and a Women Who Means Business by the Kansas City Business Journal in 2022.

Ashley has been heavily involved in the KC community for years sitting on multiple nonprofit boards of directors such as Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City, KC Chapter President for NAWBO National, and Co-Chairing the 2021 Go Red for Women Luncheon for American Heart Association, and Is a board member for Red Hot Nights representing Children's Mercy Kansas City. She was also a 2019 Most Wanted Honoree for BBBSKC.

Finding someone so dedicated to the philanthropic community, building up women, and running multiple businesses is no easy task. Still, it is these aspects and more why I know Ashley will continue to be a force in KC, and if her 2022 is any indication, the best is yet to come.
