Angel Flight Central
Angel Flight Central (AFC) is a volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Kansas City whose mission is to “Serve people in need by arranging charitable flights for health care or other humanitarian purposes.”
Thanks to successful grassroots funding, flights are free no matter how many times a passenger needs to travel. AFC is a very cost-effective service provider. For every cash contribution of $1, pilots donate approximately $4.73 in-flight services. Their volunteer pilots donate all of the costs associated with each flight.
AFC serves passengers originating from the ten upper-Midwest States- Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. As passionate supporters of charitable aviation, Angel Flight Central works with Southwest Airlines to help passengers from all 50 states whose travel needs exceed what can be met by volunteer pilots.
Since its founding in August 1995, Angel Flight Central (then Wings Over Mid-America), with the help of 330 volunteer pilots, has flown just over 12 million nautical miles and has helped transport over 33,000 passengers.
To help support these efforts, AFC is having its annual Wine Flight event on Saturday, November 18th, at Kansas City Marriott Downtown’s historic Muehlebach Hotel.
Their Wine Flight event will feature world-renowned Master of Wine and Master Sommelier Doug Frost. He will host and bring along wine experts who volunteer to provide tastings for the over 500 community leaders in attendance, along with dinner and auctions. Wine Flight 2023 will also celebrate Angel Flight Central’s 28th Anniversary of service to people in need.
As they head into the future, the generosity of volunteer pilots, donors, and supporters will enable them to “Give Hope Wings” by providing free flights for people in need.”
